James W. Martin
Mr. Martin’s experience includes 40 years in the areas of land planning and entitlement, building design, property and business development and is especially well known for his design, construction, and management of state of the art self storage projects accredited nationally for assisting in revolutionizing the self storage industry. Additionally, Mr. Martin has developed and managed wholly owned class A office, retail, medical , institutional properties and quality of life luxury residential communities.
Mr. Martin also served as president of the North Carolina Self Storage Association (NCSSA). Prior to serving as president Mr. Martin was chairman of Legal Affairs for the NCSSA and created the first statewide self storage standardized lease agreement which is still in use today.
Mr. Martin has extensive experience spanning all phases of commercial real estate including assemblage, acquisition, disposition of commercial property assets and various triple net properties including transactions with the largest publicly traded REITS in the US. Experience in varying types of loan structures including CMBS, finance through life companies, SBA, USDA, refinance, conventional and bridge lending finance. Cumulatively, Mr. Martin, has been involved in approximately one billion dollars of total “personal” transactions of this type outside of brokerage activities.
Mr. Martin is an actively licensed real estate professional in Florida and North Carolina which Mr. Martin remains involved by acquisition and disposition of Mr. Martin’s investments in addition to assisting high net worth clients on a case basis which has included acquisition of investment type properties and finance matters.
Mr. Martin’s development activities include properties in the Carolinas and Florida and is an active licensed general contractor in North Carolina (since 1983) and develops approximately 150,000 SF on average annually of commercial type structures.
Mr. Martin is also an active instrument rated pilot and mainly operates Cirrus Aircraft. Mr. Martin also enjoys staying active through physical fitness which includes gym activities, tennis, along with mountain activities such as hiking and snow skiing.
Brittany Cobb – Director of Corporate Affairs
Brittany began her career with The Martin Organization, LLC in 2006 as an assistant in the accounting department and eventually elevated to what typically could be referred to as a Corporate Financial Officer.
In addition to this role Brittany is responsible for the management of all Martin Organization properties located across 6 states including leasing, employment matters, financial record keeping, accounts receivable and payable, insurance and areas related to development and property expansion within the company to name a few.
Brittany also has extensive experience with the different aspects of acquisition and disposition of commercial real estate assets including due diligence processes and lending structures.
